A native of Louisiana and trained as an Architect at Southern University, Baton Rouge, Gena has more than 30-years of experience in real estate development, design & construction, program/project management, zoning & building code enforcement, constructability plan reviews, process improvement, performance measurement and facilities planning, Gena has managed public facility bond programs in the U.S.A in excess of $800 million, and her company manages private development projects in Africa in excess of $2 billion USD.  Over the past ten (10) years, Gena has worked with clients in Africa on varies projects in the pre-development and funding phases. Through a Build Operate & Transfer (BOT) Agreement or an Engineering Procurement Contract (EPC), the company manages the owner’s design & construction process, budget, outreach to stakeholders and the public— as well as develop processes, procedures, and systems. Since relocating to Washington, DC, she has been involved with Southern University and A&M College School of Business as an Advisory Board Member (2020-present); Howard University (Washington, DC) Television Station(WHUT) Advisory Board; a Member of the Healthcare Committee for the non-profit Constituency for Africa (CFA); a Member of the African Union to the United States’ – Pan-African Diaspora Women’s Association.  Gena was chosen by the U.S. State Department in 2017 as a delegate to represent the United States at the Global Entrepreneurs Summit held in Hyderabad, India; served as Panelist at the Department of Commerce – Doing Business in Africa, “Ron Brown Series”; Moderated a STEM Panel at the World Bank; a Panelist at the Women in STEM Conference in South Africa hosted by the SA Government; a guest speaker at Harvard Medical School – “Global Health Catalyst Summit” and various other international events.
